Crime branch of Palwal police has seized 192 kg silver from Rajesh Jain, cargo courier operator of Kamla Nagar, Agra, Uttar Pradesh at Jewar toll plaza. More than 10 tonnes of silver is coming to Agra every day through expressway and Delhi highway along with trains etc. for making anklets only. Agra has the highest consumption of silver in the country, which is being used for making anklets.
The month of election passed in silence for the silver traders in the city including Namak Mandi, Kinari Bazar, Chaubeji Ka Phatak, Sarafa Bazar, Shahganj. As soon as the voting was over in Agra, the traders ordered silver and the police seized 192 kg of silver and handed it over to the Income Tax Department.
Every day, raw silver is coming to Agra from Varanasi market and 999 cut silver is being ordered from Delhi. Silver anklet makers order silver from Delhi through courier service. Every day, about 10 tons of silver is being used in making anklets.

The silver traders of Namak Ki Mandi and Chaubeji Ka Phatak reduced the work of Payal drastically in a month. Actually, the Ankdias had stopped bringing silver due to strict checking during the elections. Ankdias are the couriers of the silver business who bring silver from other cities and supply it.
Silver traders said that the police is harassing the silver traders in the name of investigation at Jewar toll plaza on Yamuna Expressway. Whereas, if they bring silver from Palwal route, Palwal police takes away the silver from their goods just like Rajesh Jain. After the incident with Rajesh Jain, the silver traders stopped bringing silver.
Police is not cooperating
Vishal Jain, son of Rajesh Jain, a resident of Kamla Nagar, Agra, who runs Mayur Cargo Courier in Delhi, said that he has complained to Noida Police and Palwal Police in his case. No action has been taken so far. The work of transporting silver has completely stopped. He has been unemployed for 15 days. He is not getting cooperation from the police. He will also present the bill to the Income Tax department.
