There is a big game going on behind cigarette smuggling from abroad. Along with cigarettes, these smugglers bring gold hidden in their stomachs, but after confiscation of the cigarettes, they easily escape from the customs custody. With this, gold worth crores can easily be taken away. On the other hand, the Custom Department also does good work by recovering cigarettes.
In fact, on April 1, out of the 36 smugglers who came from Sharjah caught by Customs with cigarettes worth Rs 3.12 crore, 30 smugglers had also brought gold hidden in their stomachs. The next day, 29 smugglers escaped by dodging the customs team and the matter reached the higher authorities, hence immediately the police was informed and an FIR was registered.
A police officer said that cigarettes are mostly recovered from smugglers. According to the information, the cigarettes are brought as part of a conspiracy, so that the team’s attention is diverted towards it and the smugglers can easily leave the airport with the gold. Cigarettes worth crores of rupees have been recovered in the last one year. There is every possibility that all those smugglers had also brought gold.
Police caught smugglers, then everyone was released
Sarojininagar police had arrested one and a half dozen suspicious people about a month ago. They came from abroad. Police investigation revealed that these people had brought the gold secretly. The police handed over all the smugglers to the Customs Department, but they were all released after about five hours. The question is why was he released?
