Will AI reduce jobs?

In an interview given to Hindustan Times, the country’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that, "AI also needs humans. He cannot work on his own. While assuring to remove the fears of unemployment due to Artificial Intelligence, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that humans are also needed to use AI technology."

AI also needs humans

Talking on the issue of unemployment, he further said that, "Investing in great technology like AI and the industries driven by it may lead to reduction in job opportunities, but you have to pay attention to the issue of unemployment, there is no doubt about that. But have you thought that jobs are only there? AI also requires human intervention. It is not going to work on its own."

Need to focus on job topic

The Finance Minister further said that, "We need investments and if they create jobs then it is good. Even if investment does not directly bring many jobs, having a business in an area can create other jobs." He further said, “This is a layered debate. You want investment, you want jobs, and then you want good jobs, and then you want rewarding and highly rewarding jobs. These are some of the layers that should be paid attention to."
