On the occasion of the first Friday of the holy month of Ramzan, an inter-religious delegation led by the Indian Minorities Foundation (IMF) organized a ‘Dawaat-e-Iftar’ party for members of the Muslim community at Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia Dargah in Delhi. Members of the Muslim community including Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Jain, Parsi and ambassadors of six Muslim countries offered chadar at the dargah.
Syed Farid Ahmed Nizami, Sajjadanshin of Nizamuddin Auliya and chairman of the Dargah Management Committee, said, ‘We are very happy that this delegation has come here. We have always welcomed PM Modi’s slogan of One India, Best India. Being citizens of India, it is clear that we want to work shoulder to shoulder for the progress and development of the country.
Ebrima Maboob, Deputy Head of Mission of the High Commission of the Republic of the Gambia, said, ‘First of all I would like to thank the organizers of this event, where people of all religions come together. This is a very encouraging symbol. It shows that we are all the same and is a way of uniting people together irrespective of our respective religions. So I think it’s a very wonderful exercise and it’s very encouraging.
He said, ‘I am happy to be here. I sincerely and wholeheartedly want to support this initiative and appreciate PM Modi. I think it’s a great job and I’ve learned a lot. I think other countries can also learn from this spirit. He (PM Modi) is giving a wonderful lesson to all mankind.
Palestine Embassy Counselor Basem F. Helis said, ‘Islam gives the message of peace, love and security for people of all religions. Today’s gathering for Iftar is a great example for all, where people from different religious communities have come together. It is an example of communal harmony and religious tolerance. This is the most unique feature of India, which is a vast country that is multilingual, multi-cultural and with many religions. Through its diversity, India gives the message to the whole world to live together in peace. I would like to thank India under the leadership of PM Modi for supporting Palestine during difficult times and sending aid to the people of the country.
