On the morning of 3 April, the dead body of a married woman was found hanging from a fan in the courtyard of her in-laws’ house in village Rudayan. After receiving the news, the parents created a ruckus, alleging that it was a dowry murder. Police station in-charge Rishipal Kasana and CO Barla Sarjana Singh, who reached the information, pacified him and sent the body for post-mortem. The brother of the deceased has filed a complaint in the police station alleging dowry murder.

According to Ram Prakash son Sunderlal, resident of Pilua of Etah district, four months ago he had married his younger sister Chanchal with Kishanpal son Radheshyam, resident of village Rudayan. She alleged that after marriage, her in-laws were beating and torturing her sister to get another lakh rupees and a buffalo as dowry. Panchayat was also organized on this but the matter did not work out.

On March 18, the in-laws beat the sister and sent her to her maternal home. On March 29, he reached his in-laws house with his sister. He requested her to stop harassing her sister as she was unable to meet his demand for more dowry. It is alleged that on the morning of April 3, sister’s husband, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, father-in-law and sister-in-law murdered 20-year-old Chanchal. To destroy the evidence, the body was hanged with the help of a fan in the courtyard of the house. When he reached the news from another relative, he found the main door of the house locked from inside and the door of the stairs from outside. The sister’s feet were on the ground and there were injury marks on her body. Police called the forensic team and collected evidence on the spot.
