The enthusiasm to finalize the draft report of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) has intensified. There will be an important meeting of the committee of experts on Sunday (today). In this, along with the report, documents and annexures (annexures) related to the recommendations will also be attached. These documents will form part of the report.

It is believed that the committee can submit the report to the Uttarakhand government by July 15. In this regard, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has already said that as soon as the committee submits its report, we will start the constitutional process and try to implement UCC in the state as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, in Dehradun on Saturday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy call on Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Senior) at Raj Bhavan. It is learned that the Chief Minister informed the Governor about the progress made so far by the Expert Committee on Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He was told that the committee has prepared the draft and will submit the report soon.

Apart from this, the Chief Minister gave information about the issues related to the development of the state of Uttarakhand, the meeting with the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and other Union Ministers in New Delhi and the issues related to the development of the state raised before them. Sources said that the CM discussed the burning political and contemporary issues of the state, including the ordinance being brought on government and private land.

Discussion of cabinet expansion also heated up

The political significance of the Chief Minister’s meeting with the Governor is also being ascertained. Through this meeting in the political circles, discussions about cabinet expansion have gained momentum once again. However, sources close to the Chief Minister described the meeting as a purely courtesy call, but the discussion of cabinet expansion, which intensified after Dhami’s visit to New Delhi, has rekindled the market.
