Delhi Air Quality Turns Poor Pollution AQI Reaches 234 Air Pollution Temperature


Delhi Pollution: The pollution level in Delhi has started increasing once again. People of Delhi-NCR have had to face poor air quality for two consecutive days. According to pollution department data, this happened when Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) reached 234 on Monday. After the festival of Dussehra, an increase in AQI of Delhi was seen and it reached poor quality.

According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the last time the AQI of the city reached the ‘poor’ category 19 days ago i.e. on September 25. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 as “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 as “moderate”, 201 and 300 as “poor”, 301 and 400 as “very poor”. ” and between 401 and 500 is considered “severe”.

Delhi government bans firecrackers

The Delhi government recently announced its winter action plan to curb pollution in the capital and imposed an immediate ban on the production, storage, sale and use of all types of firecrackers across the city, effective till January 1.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said the government is taking all necessary steps to curb air pollution in the city, which increases every year during the winter season.

“Today, the AQI is reported to be in the ‘poor’ category and as winter approaches, pollution increases as temperatures drop,” he said on Monday. The government is working on a 21-point plan to address the issue. “And we will intensify our efforts to raise public awareness on this matter.”

What is the reason for pollution in Delhi?

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader further said that dust pollution, transport emissions and biomass burning are the three main sources of pollution in the city. The maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 34.4 degrees Celsius, which is one degree above this season’s average.

The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be around 35 degrees Celsius and 18 degrees Celsius respectively.
