The MCD has put the BJP councilors in the dock for not holding the election of the mayor, deputy mayor and six members of the standing committee in the house on January 24. The MCD has blamed the BJP councilors in a report sent to the Lieutenant Governor through the Delhi government regarding the ruckus in the House meeting. The MCD has said that after the oath was administered to the councillors, the BJP councilors created a ruckus. Due to this, the presiding officer had to adjourn the meeting when the work in the House came to a standstill.

According to sources, the MCD has sent a point-wise report regarding the meeting to the Lieutenant Governor. While the MCD has not questioned the presiding officer in the report, the AAP members have also not been held responsible for the ruckus. The MCD has written in the report that after administering the oath to the councilors, Presiding Officer Satya Sharma instructed them to prepare for the election of the Mayor as per the agenda and he adjourned the meeting for a while. Meanwhile, the councilors of both the parties started raising slogans of their leaders and parties.

When the presiding officer arrived, the AAP councilors sat down on their seats, but the BJP councilors did not calm down and kept raising slogans accusing the AAP councilors of abusing them. During this the proceedings of the house could not go on and the presiding officer adjourned the meeting for 15 minutes. Even during the resumption of the meeting, the BJP councilors did not calm down and kept accusing the AAP councilors of abusing them. Due to this the Presiding Officer adjourned the House sine die.

no action required

Sources said that the MCD in its report has not demanded action against the councilors of any party from the Lieutenant Governor. The MCD has only requested to fix the date of the meeting of the House. The MCD had also sent a similar report to the Lieutenant Governor regarding the ruckus in the House meeting on January 6 last. During that time the MCD had blamed the AAP members for the ruckus, but the MCD did not demand action against the AAP members.
