Hello… This is 90.0 MF radio wave. Don’t worry, we are talking about Ramlal Anand College of Delhi University. The college has started a mini community radio of its own. Through this, programs based on education, employment and knowledge based, and DU admission process can be heard up to 10 km. The college claims that it is the only community radio in DU. Journalism students will also get an opportunity to do one month internship on this community radio prepared at a cost of about 60 lakhs.

The special thing is that with the help of the college, this radio is completely run by the students. The college got the idea of starting such a community radio in the year 2019. Its process got delayed due to the Corona pandemic. Now last month on February 13, it was started with the name Radio Tarang.

Coordinator of Department of Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication in Ramlal Anand College, Prof. Rakesh Kumar told that behind starting this is the thinking of the college principal. Applied to the Community Radio Section of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to start the radio.

It is difficult to get frequency in Delhi. But we still got 90.0 frequency. About 60 lakhs have been spent to run the radio. It started in February this year after five months of hard work. In this, the management committee of the college fully cooperated in this project.

Community Radio has a recording room, a discussion room, a voice editing room and a live broadcast room. Programs of other colleges will also be broadcast through this community radio.

DU’s own radio used to run till five years ago.

Till five years back, DU also had its own community radio station on 90.4 MHz. But it was closed after some time. The DU administration has started efforts to revive the closed community radios.

Will also give internship to students of other colleges

Through this, internship will also be given to other college students. Prof. Rakesh told that internship is an essential part of journalism curriculum. For this students have to go to All India Radio or private channels. But seats are less in All India Radio. Whereas private channels give less opportunities to outside students. In such a situation, now students can also do internship here. For this we will give a certificate which will be valid.
