The team of Western Zone-2 of Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested rewarded criminal Paras Gupta, resident of Raj Nagar Extension, Ghaziabad, involved in a rape case. In 2013, a reward of Rs 50,000 was announced by Ghaziabad Police on his arrest.
The complainant, who lives in Rajnagar Extension, Ghaziabad, alleged that Paras Gupta (40), who works in a senior position in an IT company, lured her into friendship and mixed some intoxicant in her cold drink and raped her several times and Also took their photographs. He ran away from the flat leaving the victim in a delirious state. Investigation was started by the local police but the accused absconded and kept changing his identity and whereabouts. A reward of Rs 50,000 was announced on his arrest.
Satish Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Delhi said that understanding the seriousness and nature of the crime, a special team comprising Havildar Dinesh Kumar, Vinod Sharma etc. was formed under the leadership of Inspector Akshay under the supervision of ACP Ravinder Kumar Rajput. . Secret informers were deployed to keep an eye on the activities of the accused. Based on confidential information and technical assistance of Vinod Sharma, the team laid a trap in Dilshad Colony, Delhi and arrested the accused Paras Gupta. Investigation has revealed that accused Paras Gupta has done MBA from Chandigarh in 2006. He has worked as a manager, team leader in many private companies.
