The University of Delhi has set out to make students entrepreneurs through skill-based courses introduced under the four-year undergraduate degree program implemented at the undergraduate level. DU has created a pool of 68 skill enhancement courses for the second semester. From this pool, students from 3rd to 8th semester will be able to pursue the course of their choice. Now they will be evaluated by DU. In future, the subject of evaluation and internship is being thought of from the industry itself.
DU’s skill committee chairperson Professor Payal Mago told that 68 courses have been prepared for the second semester starting soon. These are such courses after which students will not only become entrepreneurs but they will also be job oriented. There are also courses among these which the students can start by going to their home town. There will be no need of land for them. Some of these courses are Aqua Culture, Lac Processing, Genomics, Silk Worm Culture, and Mushroom Technology, Dragon Fruit Culture is included.
Some other courses are: Image Styling, Radiation Safety, Forensic Chemistry, Chocolate Craft, Dairy Processing, Floriculture, Horticulture, Organic Farming, Green Belt Development for Smart Cities, Pasta and Pastry Technology, Chemistry of Cosmetics and Hygiene Products and many more .
Compulsory skill course every semester
Pro. Payal said that in the four-year degree program, it is mandatory for the student to do a skill course in every semester. In such a situation, they have been prepared in such a way that they can use them in the future as well. Students can also take a related course or separate it from the course done earlier in the next semester.
In this way he can specialize in any course. Now only DU will evaluate them. Later, they are thinking of getting their evaluation done by the industry. Along with this, they will also be given internship. It may be known that earlier 41 skill courses were prepared for the current semester.
