DTC and cluster buses are becoming the biggest reason for jam in Delhi. Everyday about 20 to 25 per cent buses break down in the middle of the road. If the bus is removed till the pressure remains, then it is okay, otherwise the bus cannot be removed from the spot even with a crane. Only the mechanic comes and removes the bus. The bus causes a massive traffic jam until the mechanic arrives.

It was revealed in the study that when the bus breaks down, there is a jam of two to three km. In comparison to the year 2021, in the year 2022, DTC and cluster buses have deteriorated 110 percent more on the roads of Delhi. Delhi Traffic Police has taken several steps to get rid of the jam caused by the buses.

According to a study by the Delhi Traffic Police, there was a 390 per cent increase in bus breakdown cases in Dwarka district in the year 2022 as compared to the year 2021. This was followed by an increase of 95 per cent in the South-Western district. The study found that there has been a 40 per cent increase in bus breakdowns in the Patel Nagar area.

There has been an increase of 36 per cent in Chittaranjan Park and eight per cent in Karol Bagh. However, there has been a decrease in cases of bus breakdowns at many places. There has been a decrease of 16 per cent in Hauz Khas, eight per cent in Mayapuri and four per cent in Vasant Vihar. After studying the whole of Delhi, it was found that most of the buses were damaged in central Delhi’s Paharganj, Patel Nagar, Karol Bagh, Kotwali etc. The special thing is that there is no information about the breakdown of buses in the outer areas of Delhi.
