EWS Quota School Admission: Parents living in Delhi are always worried about their children’s admission in a good school. For this, forms of many good schools are filled and it is hoped that the child’s number will come in one school. Some seats are also reserved for the children of the poor, who get admission under the EWS quota. For this, the annual income rule is applicable, which has now been changed once again by the High Court. This important decision of the High Court can affect millions of people.
The single bench of the High Court had given the order
In fact, the High Court has changed the decision of the Single Bench, in which the income limit for admission under EWS quota in Delhi was increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Then the High Court had said that this order will remain in force until the government makes changes in the relevant Act. This decision was challenged by the Delhi government.
The decision was challenged
It was said in the Delhi government’s petition that suddenly increasing the income limit could affect poor families. It was said that this could have a deep impact on the eligible candidates. After this, a larger bench of the High Court heard the case and now the decision has been changed. In its new decision, the High Court has reduced the income limit from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh annually. That means, the family whose annual income is Rs 2.5 lakh can apply for admission under EWS quota. Earlier this income limit was Rs 1 lakh per year.
This decision of the Delhi High Court will provide relief to those families who were worried that admission of their children would become more difficult due to the income limit of Rs 5 lakh. Every year thousands of parents fill the form for admission in EWS quota.
