Delhi Excise Policy Case AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal ED Arrest Plea Supreme Court Hearing


Arvind Kejriwal News: Hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Thursday (16 May) on the petition challenging the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. Hearing this case, the bench of Justice Sanjeev Khanna and Justice Dipankar Dutta said that Kejriwal will have to surrender on June 2. Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi CM Kejriwal has got interim bail till June 1.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the Delhi Liquor Policy case. He spent more than a month in ED custody. During this time, Kejriwal had also filed a petition in the court challenging the arrest. Delhi CM said that his arrest was illegal. At present, the Supreme Court has granted interim bail to Kejriwal till June 1 for election campaign. He has to surrender on June 2.

Delhi CM’s statement of not going to jail mentioned in court

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta appeared in the court on behalf of ED during the hearing of the petition against Kejriwal’s arrest. He argued that the Delhi CM’s petition is not worthy of hearing. The Solicitor General told the court about Kejriwal’s speech regarding going to jail again. He said that Kejriwal has said that if he votes for his party, he will not have to go to jail on June 2. On this the court said that we do not want to get involved in this. Our order is clear that they will have to surrender.
