A division bench of Justice Suresh Kumar Kait and Justice Nina Bansal Krishna also ordered the local SHO to issue an arrest warrant and look out circular (LOC) against Singh. The bench said, it is clear from the submissions of Singh’s counsel that he is not prepared to remove the contempt by complying with the orders or by paying attention to the punishment. In such a case, he is sentenced to simple imprisonment for three months and a fine of two thousand rupees. The bench was considering a petition filed by Singh’s wife Kinari Dheer (Singh has denied marrying her) to initiate contempt of court proceedings against her.

Non-compliance of order to pay alimony to wife: On June 1, 2023, Singh joined the proceedings through video conference and gave an undertaking to the court that he would continue to pay alimony to Dhir and transferred the alimony for May within 24 hours Will be done. At the same time, Dhir said that the order was not complied with. Singh’s lawyer also accepted this.

However, the counsel submitted that the contempt petition was not maintainable. When the court ordered him to be physically present on the next date of hearing, Singh’s counsel said that his client was not in India and hence, could not appear. Thereafter, the bench announced the sentence. The next hearing on the contempt petition will be on July 19.
