The centenary year convocation ceremony of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) will be held on Sunday. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will honor about 12500 students with degrees and diplomas in this convocation ceremony to be held at Delhi’s Vigyan Bhawan, while Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also be present in the programme.

According to a senior Jamia official, the students who have passed out in the academic years 2019 and 2020 will be awarded degrees and diplomas at the centenary year convocation. First of all, Vice-Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar will present the report enumerating the achievements of the University. More than 12500 students will participate in the function. Keeping in view the limited space in Vigyan Bhavan, degrees will be awarded here only to gold medalists and PhD holders. While all other students will be awarded degrees and diplomas in the afternoon at the Jamia campus.

According to a senior official, a special function will be organized on Sunday evening at the Dr. MA Ansari Auditorium on the Jamia campus. In this, Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinay Kumar Saxena will distribute gold medals to the toppers. Dr. MA Ansari Auditorium has been renovated. In this, the first program of centenary year celebrations is being organized. It was established in the year 1990 and was closed for the last few months for maintenance work.
