Live robotic kidney transplant was performed for the first time at Safdarjung Hospital. The transplant was seen live on the MMC portal for training by student doctors from 52 medical colleges and 20 countries across the world. This web casting was viewed by 2198 urologists from 20 countries across the world.

In this regard, Dr. Anoop Kumar, Head of the Department of Urology, told that this is the first live robotic kidney transplant in any government hospital in the country. The patient’s condition is better after this live robotic transplant done for training. The patient passed 400-500 ml of urine after a few hours after the transplant.

Following this success, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated Safdarjung Hospital and said that India’s healthcare is emerging as a world leader in robotics teaching and training. For the first time, Robotic Renal Transplant was performed at the Safdarjung Hospital of the Central Government. It was viewed live on the NMC portal by students from 52 medical colleges across the world and 20 different countries.
