IRCTC, DMRC and CRIS together have launched a new facility for passengers traveling by metro under the Government of India’s initiative ‘One India – One Ticket’. After the agreement between the three departments, passengers traveling by metro in Delhi-NCR will get great convenience. Now passengers will not have to stand in long queues at the metro station to get Delhi Metro tickets. One can book tickets through IRCTC’s website or app.

This way you can do the booking

DMRC has launched a beta version for booking metro tickets based on QR code in collaboration with IRCTC. Under this, passengers can book tickets for Delhi Metro by visiting IRCTC website and IRCTC mobile app (Android). As soon as you book through the app or website, you will get a ticket in the form of an electronic reservation slip just like a train ticket. The metro which has a QR code can be saved in your phone. Or you can get a print out of it.

You will be able to book 120 days in advance

The QR code ticket of Delhi Metro can be booked in advance through IRCTC like railway tickets. Any passenger will be able to book his ticket through IRCTC 120 days before the date of his journey. Along with this, if a passenger is unable to travel on that day due to any reason, then he can cancel this ticket in advance.

Will be valid for 4 days

One advantage of booking metro tickets through IRCTC is that if for some reason you are unable to travel on time, then your ticket will remain valid till the day after the date of travel. Similarly, you can travel on the ticket even two days before the date of travel. That is, if you have booked a ticket for the 20th, then your ticket will be valid from the 19th to the 22nd.
