Delhi News: Cheating With Sri Lankan Citizens On The Pretext Of Sending Them Abroad, Two Arrested


Arrested one agent from Sri Lanka and another from Tamil Nadu

Two lakh rupees were taken from all the citizens in lieu of sending them to Canada

New Delhi. The IGI Airport police station has arrested two agents who duped Sri Lankan citizens in the name of sending them abroad through India. One agent arrested is from Sri Lanka while the other is from Tamil Nadu. Two lakh rupees were taken from the citizens in the name of sending them to Canada. The police officer said that continuous action is being taken against the IGI Airport agents. Police has arrested 9 agents involved in 8 cases in the month of May.

Police officials said that Inspector Satish Kumar Yadav, posted at IGI Airport police station, was patrolling the area on May 28. He saw 10 people standing in suspicious condition near Mahipalpur picket. When asked the reason for standing, no one gave a satisfactory answer. The police interrogated everyone by bringing them to the police station, in which it was found that all were Sri Lankan citizens. One of them has been identified as Mahenthiraja, a resident of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. During interrogation, it was revealed that he was the agent, who was trying to send Sri Lankan nationals to Canada through India through fake documents on the instructions of Chennai agent Selvakulendran. The police arrested Mahenthiraja after registering a case against him.

After questioning Mahenthiraja, the police formed a team and started investigation to arrest Agent Selvakulendran. Technical surveillance revealed that Agent Selvakulendran is present in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. The police team raided and arrested Selvakulendran.

During interrogation, Selvakulendran told that he had assured to send all Sri Lankan nationals from Delhi airport to Canada. In lieu of this, two lakh rupees were taken from everyone. He told that these Sri Lankan nationals were sent to him by his acquaintance Vijay living in Sri Lanka. Police officials said that two mobile phones and Canadian visa stickers bearing the names of two passengers were recovered from the possession of Agent Mahenthiraja. On the other hand, two Indian and two Sri Lankan passports have been recovered from Selvakulendran.
