11 companies are engaged in setting up stations with MCD

New Delhi. Now is the time for electric vehicles, so feel free to buy an e-vehicle. A charging station will be found within a radius of barely three km around you. For this, MCD is going to open 525 new e-charging stations. These are being opened near residential areas like apartments, group housing societies and crowded places like hospital-colleges, institutional buildings, grocery stores and shops, malls and cafeterias. Fast and slow charging facility will be available here. Charging fee will have to be paid at the rate of about three rupees per unit.

Under the policy made by the MCD to open e-charging stations in Delhi, one e-charging and battery swapping station is being built at a distance of every three kilometers. A total of 167 e-charging stations have been opened so far, where there is facility to charge 6 to 10 vehicles simultaneously. Along with MCD, 11 companies are engaged in setting up e-charging stations. Eight PSUs (Enterprises and Undertakings controlled and operated by Government of India) TCIL, BECIL, EESL, IGL, BPCL, HPCL, CESL and DIMTS and three DISCOMs (Power Distribution Companies) DPDDL, BYPL and BRPL are working with the corporation. Corporation officials told that maximum charging stations are being opened around the cafeteria.

Many companies ready to work together

In the coming time, Delhi will have a strong network of e-vehicles and their charging stations. According to MCD officials, many more e-mobility service provider companies have come forward to cooperate in setting up CPO operated e-charging stations in Delhi. After better coordination, work can start with them as well. In such a situation, the pace of setting up stations can be accelerated.

There are about 40 to 50 lakh two-wheelers in Delhi. It is estimated that around one lakh vehicles will be converted to e-vehicles this year, as the trend of e-vehicles in societies has increased rapidly. This will reduce pollution. The corporation is working on the guidelines of the Delhi government by preparing an action plan at the grassroots level. The Delhi government is encouraging citizens to replace their two-wheelers with electric vehicles. The corporation is engaged in creating an excellent e-charging infrastructure for the citizens.

Delhi to become electric vehicle capital

The corporation is continuously identifying sites for setting up e-charging stations. E-charging stations are also being set up in closed slope houses. Preparations are on to make Delhi an EV hub, due to which Delhi will be recognized as the electric vehicle capital of India in the coming times.
