Laborer dies in open lift, case registered for negligence

New Delhi. In Kamla Market area, a heavy bearing laborer got hit on the head while taking down heavy iron goods from the fourth floor from the open lift. The injured Mukesh Raut (29) was rushed to LNJP Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Kamla Market police station has registered a case of death due to negligence and started investigation. After preliminary investigation, it has been found that an open cast iron lift was being used illegally in the building.

According to the police, originally from Bihar, Mukesh lived with the family in DDA flat, Ajmeri Gate area. Besides his wife, there are three children in the family. He was working as a laborer in a private company located at Ajmeri Gate for five years. At around seven o’clock on Friday evening, he was loading bearings in the lift and taking them down from the fourth floor. Suddenly the lift went down rapidly and the luggage kept in it jumped and hit Mukesh on his head. Mukesh fainted. Immediately after this the owner of the company Anuj Kumar took him to the hospital, where he was declared brought dead. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sanjay Kumar Sen told that the lift was sealed. Jugaad lift was being used illegally in the building. The workers have also told that the lift was faulty for a long time.
