Warning of disciplinary action for allegedly not reporting absence from secretariat

New Delhi. The Delhi government has issued a show cause notice to Ashish More, IAS officer and Secretary, Services Department. Disciplinary action has also been warned against him for ignoring the order of his transfer and not reporting his alleged absence from the secretariat. More was removed from his post by the Delhi government on Thursday, hours after the Supreme Court gave the AAP government the authority to transfer and post officers posted in Delhi.
According to an official, a show cause notice issued by Services Department Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj on May 13 did not elicit any response from More and was not available for comment in the matter. Bhardwaj had sought response from More within 24 hours on the alleged allegations of her refusal to comply with his transfer order. The minister also said that neither through phone calls nor on WhatsApp could he be contacted during this period. Was not even informed about being absent from office or being on leave. Bhardwaj’s memorandum stated that More refused to comply with the instructions issued by the minister in a note to Special Secretary (Services) on May 11.
More was called by the minister and informed about the Supreme Court’s decision and directed to send a file for his transfer and to replace him with another suitable officer. It claimed that More had assured that the concerned file would be placed before the minister before 3 pm.
Instead of keeping the file, More left the secretariat without informing the minister or his office. Attempts by the minister and his office to contact More on his office phone and mobile remained unanswered. The memorandum claimed that the officer had switched off his mobile phone and all efforts to contact him proved futile.
An official note was sent to More’s residence on behalf of the minister. The officer did not receive it despite being inside his house. The noting was later added to the notice sent to More through e-mail and WhatsApp and added that he did not attend the meeting called by the minister on May 13. It was informed by the Special Secretary (Services) that More was probably on leave, but the minister found that neither he nor the office was aware of the leave.
