New Delhi. Delhi’s Shakurbasti railway shed is going to become a global hub for repair of Vande Bharat train. Maintenance of 17 Vande Bharat train sets can be done here simultaneously. In this shed being prepared in collaboration with the Research Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO), the entire train will be lifted upwards simultaneously, not one coach each, whereas so far the other sheds of the railway have been lifting separate coaches. Maintenance takes place. The advantage of this will be that even if the train is late, the departure of the train in the return direction will not be delayed. According to officials, the last hurdle in its construction has also been removed. Being a project of national importance, the Delhi government has given permission to remove trees from here.

Railways is preparing this shed in three layers for the first time of its kind. Due to this, maximum number of train sets can be maintained. Train Set Depot will set new benchmarks for trainset maintenance with the construction of its new maintenance facility. The facility will be equipped with latest technology and equipment like Inspection Bay-Line, Synchronized Pit Jack, Retractable OHE, Pit Wheel Lathe. The depot will be capable of handling all aspects of train maintenance from routine checks to major overhaul.

Officials say that work on this project started in April last year. Presently three Vande Bharat trains are being maintained in this shed. After completion of the project by September, maintenance of 17 trains will be possible. Along with chair car train, maintenance of Vande Bharat train with sleeper coach will also be possible here. Complete overhauling of traction and propulsion system, EP brake system, overhauling of bogies, rediscing of wheelset, overhauling of high voltage system, outer plug doors, inner IC doors etc. will be done.

Approval was given to the proposal to remove the trees that are becoming a hindrance

Permission has been received from the Delhi government for this project to remove 78 trees and plant them elsewhere. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that this proposal has been approved because it is a project of national interest. A condition has also been added to the construction agency to plant 780 new saplings instead of removing and transplanting 78 trees. The Chief Minister said that the Railways are in dire need of modern infrastructure. With this approval, the country will get better facilities. Also actively ensuring that modern development does not adversely affect Delhi and has mandated 10-fold plantation to compensate for any trees that may be affected.

The Chief Minister will send the proposal to the Lieutenant Governor

Giving approval to the proposal, the Chief Minister said that the proposal would be placed before the Lieutenant Governor. Apart from the trees approved and marked on the site by the Delhi Government, the Railways cannot harm even a single tree. If any tree is damaged other than those approved by the Railways, it will be considered an offense under the Delhi Preservation of Trees Act 1994. It has been made mandatory for the Railways to plant 10 times the number of saplings instead of removing and transplanting trees. Railways will take the responsibility of maintaining the trees for the next seven years.

no less conditions

Railways will also have to ensure that for those transplanted plants that do not survive, indigenous plant species of at least 15 feet height and at least 6 inches in diameter will have to be planted in the ratio of 1:5. If a bird’s nest is found on a tree, it will not be allowed to be cut or planted until the birds leave the tree. Apart from this, within 90 days of cutting tree branches, they will be sent to the nearest crematorium free of cost.
