New Delhi. Shoppers will no longer have to wait long at Sarojini Nagar Metro Station. The entry and exit gates have been newly designed for the convenience of the passengers. Being a major shopping center (SN Market), the number of Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates has also been increased. Due to this, passengers will have to wait less.

The newly developed portion has now increased from six to 14 gates for entry and exit of passengers only from Gate No. 1 near Sarojini Nagar Market. They will only facilitate entry. The number of luggage scanning machines and frisking points have also been increased for the convenience of passengers. About 70 percent of the female passengers travel from this station. Therefore, keeping in view their convenience, four Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs), while two DFMDs have been installed for men. This will provide a lot of convenience to the passengers and the waiting time will also be reduced. Passengers will have the facility to exit only from Gate No-2.

Earlier there were four gates each for entry and exit from this side. Special arrangements have been made for the entry and exit of disabled passengers at the station. Passenger convenience has increased tremendously due to this initiative taken in the direction of remodeling. Passengers are also appreciating this initiative of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on social media. Till now, heavy rush at station entrances, stairs and platforms used to be a cause of concern for Delhi Metro. To control the movement of passengers, they had to be repeatedly barred from entering. Passengers will not face difficulties in traveling due to changes in facilities.

Number of passengers increased six times since the opening of the station

Due to its proximity to the market, the Sarojini Nagar metro station sees a significant footfall during weekends, holidays and festive season. It is the busiest station of Pink Line. Normally, on an average, 38,000 passengers travel on weekdays, while 65,000 passengers travel on holidays. The crowd at the station is continuously increasing and in November 2022 the number had increased to 85 thousand, which is the highest till now. After the inauguration of the station in August, 2018, the number of passengers has increased by almost six times.
