Delhi News: When Asked To Return The Loaned Money, The Friend Broke His Eyes

New Delhi. In Gandhi Nagar area, when the young man asked for the money lent from a friend back, the accused gouged out his eyes. Mohammad Shakir Saifi suffered serious head injuries and many of his teeth were also broken. He was first taken to GTB Hospital in critical condition. AIIMS was referred from there. During treatment at Guru Nanak Eye Centre, one of his eyes was removed. After the attack, the accused kept threatening to kill the victim and her family if she told anything to the police or anyone else. Due to fear, the matter remained suppressed for 22 days, but the victim complained about the matter to the police. The police have registered a case under various sections and started investigation. The police have recorded Shakir’s statement.

According to the police, Shakir lives with his family at Gali No. 15, Chand Bagh, Gokulpuri. Besides his wife, there are three children in the family. Shakir is a carpenter by profession. The victim said that some time back he had lent Rs 2.05 lakh to his friend Ishtiaq for a few days. He was not returning the money even after repeated demands. On insisting, the accused called Shakir to Gandhi Nagar on June 1, talking about giving money. It is alleged that in a transport office here, Shakir was attacked by the accused with the shutter closing handle. Due to which there was injury to the eye, head and other parts of the body.
