Sexual Harassment Case: Notice to High Court Registrar and Principal Secretary of Delhi Government

New Delhi. The case against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh will go before the court dealing with cases of MPs and MLAs or the court dealing with offenses under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act), wrestlers Has filed a petition regarding this issue. The High Court has issued a notice to the Registrar of the High Court and the Principal Secretary of the Government of Delhi seeking their response on this issue.

Presently the Rouse Avenue Court deals with cases against MPs and MLAs. However for offenses under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO Act) the court with relevant jurisdiction is Patiala House.

The wrestlers had filed two petitions before the Rouse Avenue Court under Section 156(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) seeking a court-monitored probe. One of these pleas was for a group of wrestlers above 18 years of age, while the other was for minor wrestlers.

While Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjit Singh Jaspal issued notice on the petition of prominent wrestlers, he referred the other matter to the High Court. High Court Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma heard the matter on Tuesday and issued notices to the Registrar General and the Delhi government. The court has ordered the defendants to file their reply by July 6.
