New Delhi. Patients coming for cancer treatment at Safdarjung Hospital’s Urology Department will soon start getting the facility of advanced chemotherapy. With the help of this advanced machine of chemotherapy, medicine can be easily given for the prevention of cancer spread on a large scale in the internal parts of the patient’s stomach. So far there is no facility for this in the hospital. In such a situation, patients had to depend on other means. In view of this, Safdarjung Hospital has tied up with Power Grid Corporation of India Limited under CSR initiative. Under this agreement, the Department of Urology will supply medical equipment for cancer patients.
Safdarjung Hospital is the largest center in North India for the Department of Urology. Every year more than one lakh patients come to this department for treatment. It is estimated that on an average 800 patients come to the department daily. About 100 of these patients suffer from cancer. Of these, 30 to 40 per cent are patients with kidney, bladder and prostate cancer, which is severely spread inside the abdomen. Advance chemotherapy is required for its prevention. These patients will be able to get this facility after the new machine is introduced. With the help of this machine based on artificial intelligence, medicine can also be easily given for the prevention of cancer spread inside the stomach.
In this regard, Dr. BL Sherwal, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, says that after the arrival of medical equipment, the treatment of patients will be better. On the other hand, Dr. Anoop Kumar, Chairman of the Department of Urology, says that the machines will be extremely beneficial for advanced urological cancer, which will provide international quality care to patients free of cost.
