VK Saxena, Lieutenant Governor Delhi
Expansion
In a bid to encourage the hospitality sector, Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena has simplified the process of obtaining licenses for restaurants, accommodation and boarding establishments. On Tuesday, he launched the revised integrated portal. With the introduction of a single window, the service for obtaining licenses for hospitality entrepreneurs, businessmen and startups has been made faceless (online).
Licenses from Delhi Police, MCD, NDMC, Delhi Fire Service and Delhi Pollution Control Committee can now be taken or renewed from this portal. All agencies will have to issue license from 49 days. In case of delay, the license will be automatically issued in the name of the applicant. This initiative will also give a boost to the night economy. Due to this, leading services will be available in Delhi on the lines of country and abroad.
The Lt Governor said that this step will lead to reform, simplification in a regulation. Due to tough terms and conditions for the hospitality sector, the entrepreneurs were facing difficulties. Initiatives have been taken in this direction by moving forward on the principle of ease of doing business of the Prime Minister. Simpler licensing norms will give a boost to the hospitality sector as well as improve the night time economy.
Keeping in view the shortcomings of the existing license system and the convenience of the entrepreneurs and citizens, a high level committee was constituted under the Principal Secretary (Home). The LG said that the committee has been able to complete its work in record time. As a result of this, a unified portal has been launched.
Food will also be served in the rooftop restaurants till late night
Delhi’s eateries and restaurants, clubs run by the DDA have made encouraging experiments such as extending operating hours. Similarly, with alfresco and terraces allowing open-air dining, now visitors to NCR cities will also be served late night at these establishments in Delhi. The entire process of license grant and renewal has been made completely online and faceless in the revised portal. Now you will be able to apply for your license or its renewal by submitting a very short, simple and common application form (CAF) on the portal. This CAF will be applicable for all the 05 licensing bodies. This includes Delhi Police, MCD, NDMC, DPCC and Delhi Fire Service.
Fewer documents will be required for the form
For new CAF only 24 documents have to be uploaded. Earlier 52 documents had to be uploaded along with the form, which has now been simplified. Now there will be a need to submit only one undertaking for five bodies. Reducing the number of documents required for renewal of license will also make it easier to obtain a license. The validity of license or No Objection Certificate (NOC) has been increased to 3 years for all agencies. Earlier the validity was one to five years for different agencies. For this an applicant had to run here and there for renewal.
