Delhi News: The Delhi Police on Saturday (January 7) detained five Nigerian nationals for illegally staying in the national capital. During the day, several pictures and videos of people obstructing a police team that went to nab Nigerian nationals in Neb Sarai area of ​​South Delhi had come to the fore. During this there was a lot of uproar.

South Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Chandan Chowdhary said that around 150-200 people from African countries tried to stop the police team from detaining those who were staying despite having expired visas. He said that a police team had reached Raju Park to deport these illegal foreign nationals. In the afternoon, the team caught three African nationals, whose visas had expired.

African citizens surrounded the police team

He said that the police team was trying to bring Nigerian citizens to the police station. Suddenly around 100 African citizens gathered there and tried to stop the team. Meanwhile, two of the people taken into custody escaped. Philip (22), a resident of Nigeria, was arrested. DCP Chaudhary told that at around 6.30 pm, another police team had gone to the area to arrest more people.

Five Nigerians taken into custody

The DCP said that in the evening the team detained four Nigerians named David William (53), Igwe Emmanuel Chimezi (33), Azigbe John (24) and Queen Godwin (26). Then around 150-200 African citizens gathered there. They were also trying to help the detained people to escape, but the police managed to bring them to the police station after a lot of efforts. Police said a case of fraud has been registered against David Williams, one of the five Nigerian nationals taken into custody.
