Expansion

This year, the corporation will monitor dengue cases from around 150 hospitals. After taking the accurate report of dengue, there will be effective investigation on zone basis. Timely spraying of insecticide, spraying of Tomiphos granules in coolers, water collected at various places.

Since January, 41 cases of dengue have been found and 292 such cases have been registered, the patients were either from other states or from hospitals whose addresses were not found.

The biggest challenge for the corporation is to prevent mosquito breeding in Delhi in view of the preparations for the G-20. Important meetings of the G-20 are to be held in November. Despite lakhs of efforts, cases of dengue, malaria and chikungunya start increasing in the capital every year between September and December. Last year, 4469 cases of dengue were reported in Delhi, out of which 693 cases were reported in September, 1238 in October, 1420 in November and 874 in December. Nine people also lost their lives to dengue in these months. This year 23 people lost their lives to dengue.

Effective plan for prevention: The corporation has identified 140 reservoirs for release of larva vorous fish. This year 3170 DBC employees have been deputed for breeding checking in homes. Around 2900 field workers have also been put on duty in all the 12 zones.

Dengue cases are more than reported

The MCD issues reports on dengue, malaria and chikungunya every week. Apart from Delhi Corporation area, it covers cases of NDMC, Delhi Cantonment and Railway Colony areas. But more people are affected by dengue in Delhi than the cases reported in this report. Last year, there was a similar situation with dengue between October-November, while according to the report, the cases were limited.
