For the last three days, pollution in Delhi is at an average level. During this, an improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded. According to Dipankar Shaha, former additional director of CPCB, the higher the difference between minimum and maximum temperature along with wind speed, the better the air quality.
Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the Regional Weather Forecasting Center, says that the increase in wind speed after the western disturbance has a direct impact on pollution. As the air cleared, northwesterly winds started blowing. This did not give the pollutants a chance to collect. After the departure of the Western Disturbance, the wind speed decreases slightly and there is a possibility of a decrease in the temperature. As compared to last year, the AQI has improved in the past due to these reasons only.

Pollution is expected to increase due to difference in temperature and decrease in wind speed between the end of December and New Year. Due to low wind speed during the next three days, the pollution level may worsen again.
