After the new law regarding surrogacy, there has been a decline of up to 90 percent in its cases in Delhi. IVF centers are also decreasing. Under the new law, strictness has been done regarding surrogacy across the country. In this, it has been clarified that surrogacy facility will be available only to those people whose age (male 55 female 50) is less. Apart from this, other conditions have also been kept.

In fact, a meeting of Aakriti, an organization of Delhi doctors associated with Gynaecology, Surrogacy and IVF, was held in Delhi. In this meeting, giving legal information to doctors, safety and other topics were discussed. The meeting has also demanded reform in the law for doctors. Regarding the meeting, Dr. Rita Bakshi told that every year till 2020-21, on an average 750 children were born through surrogacy in the country. After the new rules came into force, it has come down to an average of 75.

He said that under the new law, this facility will be available only to those people whose age is less than 55 years. Apart from this, those who have a child, are single men, they will not get this facility. At the same time, the fine in this case has also been increased significantly. In such a situation, there has been a lot of reduction in it. He said that many times doctors get entangled in legal problems, they are not aware of it. To avoid such problems, they were given information in the program. Also other rules including abortion, IVF were discussed.

Demand for prevention of incidents of assault

In the meeting, the doctors said that during the treatment, pranksters often indulge in physical violence. This should be stopped and adequate security should be given in hospitals. Let us tell you that doctors were beaten up in many hospitals of Delhi government in the past.

Medical certificate will not be made for more than 15 days

In the meeting, Dr. Girish Tyagi, Registrar, Delhi Medical Council said that doctors will not give medical certificate to any patient for more than 15 days. Will personally meet the patient before issuing the medical certificate. Also, the identity of the patient will be written on the medical certificate. He said that the name of a doctor had come to the fore in the past who had issued a medical certificate for the prisoner lodged in the jail. Apart from this, it has been seen that many times the medical certificate is being issued even for two-three months.
