The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Wednesday arrested three people, including the Inspector of the Transport Department, who were demanding bribe in return for leaving the seized taxi despite the court’s order. The arrested accused have been identified as Inspector Vedpal, resident of village Daulatabad, Umesh, resident of Gurugram, Haryana and Civil Defense Volunteer Aditya Kumar, resident of Nangloi. The accused were demanding one thousand rupees from a taxi driver in exchange for leaving the vehicle. Acting on the complaint of the driver, the ACB has arrested all three.

Joint commissioner and ACB chief Madhur Verma said that on Wednesday, his team had received a complaint from a taxi driver demanding bribe from officials of the transport department. The victim said that on Monday the officials of the Transport Department challaned his Swift Dzire taxi. After the challan, his taxi was also seized. The victim obtained orders to release the car after paying a fine of Rs 4,000 in the court.

After this he reached the office of Transport Department located in Dwarka Sector-22. There, first a demand of three thousand rupees was made from him. ACB formed a team after receiving the complaint in the matter. The victim was sent to Dwarka along with the witness. After reaching there, the driver asked Inspector Vedpal to leave the car, then he asked him to go to the room with a punch of one thousand rupees and give it. The victim reached there and punched one thousand rupees to the constables Umesh and Aditya. The ACB team arrested Vedpal, Umesh and Aditya soon after taking the money. A case has been registered against this under various sections.
