Delhi University students to get a chance to complete their semester in foreign university


Delhi University: There is good news for the students of Delhi University. Soon they will get a chance to complete their semester studies in foreign institutions or universities. DU is working on this under the twin degree system. Under this, graduate students will be given the opportunity to complete the final year semester in foreign institutions. The committee formed to implement this system has presented its recommendations. This report will be placed for approval in the Academic Council meeting to be held on 27th December.

As per the panel’s recommendations, graduating students from the 2022-2023 batch onwards will have the option to complete the third, fifth or seventh semester abroad. A DU official said that the credits earned by students in foreign institutions will also be taken into consideration before awarding them degrees. They will get minimum 12 credits and maximum 26 credits.

Scholarship for economically weaker students

The panel constituted under the Twin Program has also recommended scholarships for economically weaker students. Under this, scholarship will be given to economically weak meritorious students. DU is preparing to send one or two students of this category abroad. According to the information, the International Relations Office of DU will be responsible for initiating collaboration with foreign universities for the twin programme, in which matters like course fee, student medical insurance, accommodation and other necessary arrangements will be considered.

DU has 90 MoUs so far

DU has about 90 MoUs with foreign institutions for exchange programmes, workshops and seminars and other activities. Professor Amarjeev Lochan, Joint Dean of the Department of International Relations, said, we are planning to sign at least 30 MoUs for the twinning program with top institutions across the world. Special emphasis is being given to institutions in Asia. . Under such MoUs, semester fees in foreign institutions will be waived off, but students may have to bear their own accommodation and travel expenses, he said.
