Soon women in private companies will be able to work in night shift with full security. The Delhi government has prepared its draft. The labor department will give a final shape after taking suggestions and objections on it from the public. Labor Minister Rajkumar Anand held a meeting with the officials of the department on Friday and discussed other points including safety and allowing women to work in night shift and approved the draft.

In this, to increase the share of women in the work force, it was decided to allow them to work in night shift also. Now women can work from 7 pm to 6 am, although women’s consent is very important for this. For women working in night shift, the employers will have to arrange transport for them from home to work. There should be proper arrangements for toilets, drinking water and transport for women at the workplace.

Will be able to give suggestions on the portal for one month

The labor department’s draft will now be presented before the public for filing suggestions and objections. The draft will be shared soon on the portal of Labor Department. Along with the general public, organizations and employers will also be able to submit suggestions and objections to the government. For this, a time of 30 days has been fixed by the Labor Department. The department will then incorporate the suggestions and objections of the public into the draft and send it to the law department for legal analysis. It will be finalized after the draft is passed from here. Then it will be implemented in Delhi and women will be able to work in night shift.

Guidelines prepared for employees

Special guidelines have been prepared to improve the safety and health facilities of lakhs of employees of private companies working in Delhi. Labor Minister Raj Kumar Anand has approved these in the meeting.

  • Workers doing overtime will get money for their hard work. Working more than 8 hours in a day or working more than 48 hours in a week would be considered as overtime.
  • If an employee works overtime, he or she may receive additional pay of up to double the hourly rate based on the minimum wage.
  • No person shall work more than 12 hours in a day nor shall he work overtime for 7 consecutive days.
  • Shall not work for more than 60 hours in a week. Employers will have to give some leave in a year separately to the workers for overtime.
  • It will be mandatory to give joining letter and experience letter to the employees working in any field.
  • Expatriate employees will have to pay traveling allowance once a year. For this the employers have to fix some amount for the employee.
  • Workers working in hazardous chemical factories will have to undergo medical examination compulsorily by the employer.
  • In case of any accident at the company, factory or other workplace, the employer will have to inform the labor department about the incident within 12 hours.
  • You can contact the Inspector and Chief Inspector of Labor Department through telephone, message and e-mail.
  • Labor Department, District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Police Station Incharge and in case of migrant worker, will give information by sending notice to the concerned department of his state.

Employers must issue separate numbers
