ICC On Rawalpindi Pitch: Recently, a Test match was played between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi. The batsmen of both the teams scored easily on this wicket. Because of this, there was a lot of criticism of the pitch. After which the ICC gave demerit points to Rawalpindi’s wicket. The Pakistan Cricket Board appealed against the decision after the ICC gave demerit points. However, now there is relief news for the Pakistan Cricket Board. Actually, the ICC has withdrawn its decision. That is, the ICC in its decision had described the Rawalpindi wicket as below average, but has now changed its decision.
ICC withdraws decision
This test match was played between Pakistan and England in December. ICC match referee Andy Poycroft said that the Rawalpindi pitch was a very flat pitch. There was no help for the bowlers on this pitch. He said that because of this the batsmen of both the teams scored a mountain of runs easily and at a good strike rate. He also said that the Rawalpindi pitch was a nightmare for the bowlers. There was absolutely no help for the bowlers on this pitch. However, after this match, the ICC termed the pitch as below average.
What would have happened if the ICC did not withdraw the decision?
The Pakistan Cricket Board appealed against the ICC’s decision. After which the ICC changed its decision. Actually, if the ICC had stuck to its decision and did not change the decision, then the match would not have happened on this ground. The ICC does not consider this ground favorable for international cricket. However, this would have happened if the ICC again gave demerit points to the Rawalpindi wicket.
