The files for the new contract for lab services in Delhi government hospitals and mohalla clinics are in the Lt. Governor’s office. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has written a letter to the Lieutenant Governor demanding an early decision on this proposal. He has written that the proposal was sent to LG on December 12, but till now no decision has been taken on it. An immediate decision needs to be taken on the proposal of lab tests, otherwise tests will be stopped in all hospitals of Delhi from January 1.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia has urged the LG that now there is very little time left. Therefore, you should take a quick decision in this matter so that the new service provider can start work on time. If there is any gap in taking a decision on this proposal, it will cause huge inconvenience to the general public. The Delhi government has completed all the formalities for awarding new contracts. Manish Sisodia has also referred to some important passages from the judgment of a 5 Judge Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court in the case of State of (NCT Delhi) v. Union of India & Ors., (2018) 8 SCC 501.
The letter said that in my opinion, the matter relating to providing laboratory services is not the rarest of rare which should be referred to the President. Since there is very little time left, I shall be grateful if you could decide on this matter at the earliest.
