Detail Review Good Luck Jerry: Janhvi Kapoor can act

Good Luck Jerry Review: Director Siddharth Sengupta studied the film in Dibakar Banerjee’s school ‘Oye Lucky Lucky Oye’ and that’s why when you watch ‘Good Luck Jerry’, you see many glimpses of Dibakar’s comedy sense. Disney+ Hotstar’s latest release, ‘Good Luck Jerry’ starring Janhvi Kapoor is an entertainment-packed black comedy. Which you can enjoy watching with the whole family if you ignore some abuses. In 2018, Tamil film director Nelson wrote and directed his first film – Kolamavu Kokila. Nayantara was the heroine of the film. The film was a super hit. Won some awards too. Good Luck Jerry is the official Hindi remake of this Tamil film Kolamavu Kokila. The film is a bit long, there are small scenes, but the film is entertaining. Seeing this film, it seems that Jahnavi Kapoor is becoming a very good actress. It can be inferred that this film will help a lot in his career. Those who have seen the Tamil original will also like Jhanvi Kapoor’s performance.

The story of Good Luck Jerry was written in Tamil by director Nelson Dilip Kumar. Actress Nayanthara (the most expensive and successful actress of Tamil films) was so impressed by its script that she immediately said yes and also gave her dates immediately. It has been translated into Hindi by Pankaj Matta and what a great job he has done. Everything happens in Chennai in the original film and in Punjab in Good Luck Jerry. Pankaj has also dressed the characters in regional clothes very well. Only Jhanvi and her sister Chhaya alias Cheri (Samta Sudiksha) and Jhanvi’s mother Sarbati (Mita Vashisht) have been described as families from Bihar, rest of the characters are from Punjab and are wonderful examples of Punjabiyat. Small things like this often make a big difference in remakes. Pankaj has created this big impact in Good Luck Jerry. Jaya alias Jerry (Jahnavi Kapoor) works in a massage parlor to run the household expenses. Younger sister Cherry studies and mother makes and sells momos in the market. When the mother gets cancer, Jerry starts working to bring drugs for a local drug dealer for treatment. Every time, in one way or the other, she escapes from the police. The wheel of luck turns and circumstances become such that Jerry has to carry 100 kg of cocaine from under the nose of the police. Fighting for her life, her family’s life and her mother’s cancer, Jerry uses her brains to take on Punjab’s ruthless drug dealers, first by fighting amongst themselves and then with the help of the police to take down drug dealers and gangsters. Marwa K. There is always a good ending, but before that there are so many ups and downs in the story that the story remains tied.

This is the fourth-fifth film of Jhanvi Kapoor’s career. The journey from the first film Dhadak to Good Luck Jerry was not difficult but Jhanvi had a big question of acting well which she had to answer. Good luck Jerry that’s the answer. What a great performance by Jhanvi. Completely removing the glamor, she is a girl from Bihar, a massage parlor girl in Punjab who earns money by becoming a drug mule and gets her mother treated, this role has been almost lived by Jhanvi. Bihar’s drug mule Alia Bhatt was also made in Punjab in Udta Punjab. Jhanvi looks comfortable. There is panic on the face but the fight for existence has given him some courage and the power to run his own mind. In many scenes, it seems that maybe it has been written keeping Jhanvi in mind.

Comedy timing cannot be inherited, but Jhanvi has matured in that too. Mita Vashishtha is that well of acting, from which water keeps coming out. Terrific timing and fighting with her daughter like a pure Bihari mother, what a fierce performance she performs. Scenes of fighting with Jhanvi, scenes of nurses dressing her in hospital gowns, scenes of neighbors lashing out at her… There are many such scenes where Mita is in possession of the scene and the scene is not hers as well. This is experience. Deepak Dobriyal is wonderful as Jhanvi’s one-sided lover. Why did God make me so handsome as he wreaks havoc while talking to himself. Jaswant Singh Dalal is a complete ruckus in the character of Timmy. He falls in love with Jerry part time and kills two of his men following his advice. When he comes inside and meets Jerry, love and confusion are visible in his eyes. Jaswant, an ad film maker by profession and having a diploma in acting from FTII, was also seen in Anushka Sharma’s NH10, although the character was small.

The music is by Parag Chhabra and this is his biggest project till date. Worked hard on this project. The lyricist Raj Shekhar, who is associated with soil, has written two or three amazing songs. Paracetamol and Jhand Ba have the potential to become popular, but due to the release on OTT, the chances of them getting seen and heard more often are slim. Editor Prakash Chandra Sahu and Zubin Shaikh have not allowed the story to wander. The film is basically related to crime, so no parallel track has been made that big. Deepak Dobriyal and Jhanvi’s maths, younger sister Cherry and her crazy lover, Jhanvi and Jaswant’s one-sided love story, Sushant Singh’s colorful style. Everything is there but the basic story is Jerry becoming a drug mule, that is, taking drugs from here to there and getting his mother treated with the money he gets. Along with the writer of the script, both the director and the editor should be thanked that they considered the story as the hero. This rarely happens in films. How director Siddharth convinced Jhanvi to do such a non-glamorous role is a mystery. How Janhvi also agreed to become a massage parlor girl, this too will remain a mystery.

The film is entertaining. The film keeps the audience hooked. The songs are also in the right amount and are good. The pace of the film has been kept good except for one or two places. It is a good thing that such films are being made now. Seeing ‘Good Luck Jerry’, such films should be supported and Jahnavi Kapoor should be praised that she decided to do this film and played her character with full conviction. Jerry means Jhanvi can only be there.
