Detail Review: The story is seen in ‘Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’, but the series is strong

The color of khaki uniform is unique. Many times in films, khakis are glorified in such a way that they are seen as more than superheroes. In real life, when a khaki uniform wearer tries to compile his experiences and mold them in the form of a book, then he has to take special care that he keeps presenting facts without getting carried away by emotions. Bihar IPS officer Amit Lodha captures the story of the mafia empire that was born, flourished and destroyed by Amit in Sheikhpura district in his book ‘Bihar Diaries: The True Story of How Bihar’s Most Dangerous Criminal Was Caught’ .

The book was not written for entertainment, nor does Amit have storytellers who would have presented this whole episode in a juicy way. The book was well written and did not last long. Neeraj Pandey (A Wednesday, Aiyaary, MS Dhoni and Special Ops) has produced a series on this book. The name of this web series directed by Bhav Dhulia is Khaki Files – The Bihar Chapter.

Amit Lodha is an interesting police officer. are shy. Used to speak less. I liked the police uniform very much but did not have the courage to go, so I cleared IIT. Couldn’t make friends there too and kept studying as a recluse. Strange man away from parties, away from fun. Then after IIT, took the UPSC exam and came in the police line. Here his personality got many colors, the most profound of which was personal contact with the people of his area. At the age of just 25, he became SP of Nalanda and then SSP of Muzaffarpur. Amit got attracted to the police job and so when he was posted in Sheikhpura district, he ended the empire of Pintu Mahto, known as Gabbar Singh of Sheikhpura and arrested him.

Neeraj Pandey’s web series on his book has become very good. Its director is Bhav Dhulia, who earlier directed the first season of Zee5’s much talked about web series Rangbaaz. Based on the life of notorious gangster Mr. Prakash Shukla, the first season of Rangbaaz featured actors like Saqib Saleem, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Ranvir Shorey, Aahana Kumra. Being the son of Tigmanshu Dhulia, Bhav must have come to work, but he started as an assistant director in films like Paan Singh Tomar, Shagird, Force, Drishyam. Bhava, worked as an assistant to late director Nishikant Kamat for a long time and learned the job. Seeing his work, Neeraj Pandey gave him the opportunity to make a web series on President Awardee Amit Lodha’s 2016 book.

The web series is spicy, and completely made keeping in mind the entertainment. In this, less focus has been placed on the real story behind the crime, mostly the issue of the efficiency of the police has been shown. Even in the book, Amit only says his words and the same has happened in this series as well. It is also good in a way because because of this the series has been saved from becoming cumbersome and people have also become interested in watching it. Since the story is real, many things can be believed, but it seems a bit excessive for an IPS officer like Amit Lodha to go after a low level criminal like Pintu Mahato himself. No other companions have been shown along with Amit, who have had any special contribution. Whether it is knowingly or unknowingly, only the producer-director knows. It is good that the character of Abhimanyu Singh came in the middle of the season, otherwise this series would have looked like a single hero series.

Karan Tacker is in the role of Amit Lodha, in whose life this is a very important role. He played it very well too. Karan has previously worked in Neeraj Pandey’s Disney + Hotstar series Special Ops. Here he has got a very big role. Karan looks a bit strange in the character of such a straightforward and law-loving priest of morality. The character of his wife is played by Nikita Dutta who is very beautiful and is in the background and remains important throughout the series. This series can be a good answer for those who call Nikita Dutta the wife of Zubin Nautiyal. Avinash Tiwari is playing the role of Chandan Mahato. Starting from an ordinary petty trader, Chandan who became a gangster after killing his own master in jail has played well, but Avinash Tiwari’s acting has not yet come to new dimensions, so his acting is shallow. Vinay Pathak, Jatin Sarna, Aishwarya Sushmita, Abhimanyu Singh are also fine. The tone of the scene changes as soon as Ravi Kishan and Ashutosh Rana appear on the screen.

It is not possible to create ruckus on the facts, but questions will definitely be raised on the dramatization of the story. Neeraj Pandey and Umashankar Singh have written the screenplay together, so the way of explaining everything is long like Neeraj’s films. Every scene has been written in great detail and because of this, cinematographer Hari Nair, who has been working since the 90s, has also shot big scenes. The state of Bihar has no color of its own and therefore the incident of Bihar can happen anywhere in the country. Hari had a chance to do something new which he did not do. Editor K. Praveen also had plenty of footage, so he didn’t even bother to make small scenes.

Khakee: The Bihar Chapter’s problem lies in its attempt to make the main character a figure of decency. This matter becomes more relevant because after the release of the series, a case is going on against Amit Lodha regarding its payment. It is an allegation that he had struck a deal when he was an IPS officer and had taken undue advantage of it. Time will tell how much is true and how much is false. Viewers should watch the web series. One, after a long time something has come on the background of Bihar and has become good to a great extent.
