Rules of Guru Pradosh Vrat (Guru Pradosh Vrat 2023 Puja Vidhi)

  • On this day, devotees should wake up early in the morning before Brahma Muhurta or before sunrise and take bath early.
  • Wear clean clothes after bath and remember the name of Bholenath
  • While chanting the mantra ‘Om Namah Shivay’ of Lord Shiva, water should be offered to Shiva.
  • Follow the rules of celibacy on the day of Pradosh Vrat.
  • Also, don’t eat food on this day.
  • Do not consume meat, alcohol, onion, garlic or other tamasik food.
  • Also stay away from tobacco and alcohol.
  • After fasting for the whole day, one hour before sunset, take bath and wear white.
  • Clean the place of worship with Ganges water and start worshiping during its Pradosh period.
  • Try to keep yourself away from fights on this day.
  • Chant Om Namah Shivay as many times as possible in the day.

Pradosh Vrat Udyapan Vidhi

  • Pradosh Vrat is kept from work to work for eleven or 26 Trayodashis and after that Pradosh Vrat is celebrated.
  • Udyapan of fasting should be done on Trayodashi date only.
  • Havan must be performed on the day Udyapan is done.
  • Also chant a garland of ‘Om Uma Sahitha Shivay Namah’ mantra, do Havan while chanting this 108 times.
