Dhanai Mishthan Bhandar’s Peda in Srinagar Garhwal is one such sweet whose taste is loved by the whole of Garhwal. The special thing about these Pedas is that they are made from the mawa of the village. Dhanai family has been making these delicious Pedas for more than 100 years. Mawa comes especially from the village for the Pedas of Dhanai Mishthan Bhandar.
Dhanai Mishthan Bhandar operator Digambar Singh Dhanai told Local 18 that the sweet shop has been in Srinagar since 1918. They have been making pedas and singodi for more than a hundred years. They have been doing the sweet business for almost four generations.
Peda is prepared from the village’s mawa
Digambar Singh Dhanai tells that he makes Peda, Singodi, Kalakand, Bal Mithai. But there is more demand for Peda. His Peda is different from others. Because, the mawa from which Peda is prepared comes from the village. For the last hundred years, the mawa for Peda comes from the same village. That is why their taste is different. And for the last hundred years, he has been giving the same taste to the people.
Demand for trees comes from the entire Garhwal region
The demand for pedas increases on Rakshabandhan. People come from all over Garhwal region to buy pedas. People who live outside the city in Delhi, Mumbai or abroad also come to buy pedas. Singodi is made by them on demand.
These are the prices of sweets
The price of one kilo of peda is 450 rupees, singodi is 500 rupees and gram flour laddu is 300 rupees per kilo. Gram flour laddus are also roasted in ghee, which is less sweet. Therefore, gram flour laddus are also sold in large numbers.
