Dhanteras 2024: The 5 day festival of Diwali starts with Dhanteras. On this day, there is a tradition of worshiping Lord Dhanvantari (God of Ayurveda), Kuber Dev and Mother Lakshmi. Why buy utensils on Dhanteras

Dhanteras Puja Vidhi
- On the day of Dhanteras, after cleaning in the morning, take bath before sunrise and wear clean or new clothes.
- Make rangoli at the main entrance. Clean your workplace and shop also. Apply vandan wise. Make footprints of Goddess Lakshmi.
- Lord Dhanvantari should be offered Krishna Tulsi, cow’s milk and butter made from it. If you have bought a brass item then definitely gift it to them. Recite Dhanvantari Stotra.
- Worship God of wealth Kuber and Mother Lakshmi with Shodopachar method. Offer kumkum, turmeric, akshat, bhog. Worship the gods in the north direction.
- Shop at auspicious time. Whatever you buy, you should first offer it to Goddess Lakshmi during Dhanteras puja and then use it.
- In the evening, a four-faced lamp should be made from flour. Mustard or sesame oil should be added to it and it should be kept outside the house in the south direction or on the threshold.
Why do we donate lamps in the name of Yama on Dhanteras?
On the day of Dhanteras, a lamp is donated to Lord Yama at an auspicious time in the evening. It is believed that by doing this one gets freedom from the fear of Yamraj, the god of death. Place this lamp in the south direction.
