Dilip Kumar Marriage: In the 50’s, an actor came to Hindi cinema who ruled every heart. This actor was not only expert in acting but also defeated everyone in looks. Girls were crazy about this actor and one of those girls was Saira Banu whom the actor married. The name of that actor was Yusuf Khan i.e. Dilip Kumar.

What was that ‘serious mistake’ of Dilip Kumar?

In the year 2014, many stories from the actor’s life were written in Dilip Kumar’s autobiography ‘Dilip Kumar: The Substance and the Shadow’. This book was written by Udaya Tara Nair through Dilip Kumar. A ‘serious mistake’ was mentioned in this book. According to the autobiography, after 16 years of marriage with Saira Banu, Dilip Kumar married Asmaan Rehman for the second time in 1980. Asma from Hyderabad was a divorcee.

What actually happened was that Dilip Kumar married Saira and when he did not have children for 16 years, Dilip’s relatives forced him to marry again. Dilip did not want to do this but was forced to marry again for the sake of the child. However, their marriage lasted only for 2 years because Dilip Kumar did not tell Saira about this marriage and this thing was eating her from inside.

It was written in the autobiography that second marriage was a big wrong decision of his life and he wanted to forget this ‘serious mistake’. It is said that Dilip told Saira about this marriage when he called it off. He was troubled by the fact that he had betrayed Saira. According to reports, Saira remained angry with Dilip for a long time but the love was so much that even that resentment could not last long.

Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu’s marriage

There was an age difference of 20 years between Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. When Saira was young, she lived in London and was crazy about Dilip Kumar’s films. He made up his mind to enter films only for Dilip Kumar. When Saira was 22 years old, she proposed to Dilip Kumar but Dilip refused because he was 44 years old.

Dilip explained to her a lot that there was a lot of difference in their ages but Dilip bowed to Saira’s insistence. On October 11, 1966, Dilip Kumar married Saira Banu. After marriage, Saira became pregnant for the first time in 1972, but due to some reason she suffered a miscarriage and due to that incident, Saira could not become a mother again. Both of them wanted to have a child, but both spent their entire lives dependent on each other.

Dilip Kumar passes away

Dilip Kumar’s first film was Jwar Bhata in the year 1944. After this he did ‘Nadiya Ke Paar’, ‘Shabnam’, ‘Jogan’, ‘Arzoo’, ‘Shaheed’, ‘Dil Diya Dard Liya’, ‘Sangdil’, ‘Jugnu’, ‘Tarana’, ‘Daag’, ‘Devdas’. Gave many superhit films like ‘Deedar’, ‘Mughal-e-Azam’, ‘Mashal’, Kranti, ‘Saudagar’, ‘Aan’. Dilip Kumar worked from 1944 to 1995 and did about 300 films.

Since 2000’s, Dilip Kumar’s health was often unwell and since 2010, he was completely bedridden. Dilip Kumar died on 7 July 2021 at the age of 98 due to various diseases due to old age.
