Diljit Dosanjh Punjab Concert: During singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s Punjab concert held on Saturday, the sound level had exceeded the prescribed limit. Chandigarh Administration gave this information to Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday.
‘Strict action’ should be taken against violators
The administration told the court that ‘strict action’ has been recommended against the violators. The High Court, while giving permission for Diljit Dosanjh’s concert to be held in the evening of 13th December, had directed that the organizers should follow the noise pollution rules. While allowing this concert on Friday, the division bench of Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Anil Kshetrapal had directed that the ambient air quality standards for sound should be strictly maintained.
Recently a PIL was filed by a Chandigarh resident. In this, a request was made to give instructions to the Union Territory Administration on the management of public programs including measures related to noise pollution and crowd control in the Sector 34 exhibition ground.
When the administration was asked to file a status report, its standing counsel filed an affidavit before the High Court in the matter. It mentioned that acting on the directions of the High Court, the Deputy Commissioner of Chandigarh constituted a committee and noise monitoring was carried out during the entire concert.
The Chandigarh administration’s affidavit said, ‘The noise levels during the concert of artist Diljit Dosanjh organized on 14.10.2024 were monitored and it was found that it exceeded the limits prescribed under the Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000. Had gone. The affidavit said, ‘Action under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 and Noise Pollution (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000 has been proposed vide letter dated 16.12.2024.’
Diljit Dosanjh’s concert took place on Saturday evening. Singer started concerts from Delhi in October.
