Why did you ask for votes?
In an interview given to Pritish Nandy in 1994, Dimple Kapadia told why she asked for votes for Rajesh Khanna. She said- ‘What are friends for? Can’t I stand with a person whom I have known for a long time? This was important for me.’ When Dimple was asked about Rajesh Khanna’s victory, she said- ‘I was very scared. When he won, I was very surprised. I was very happy with his victory.’
Votes were sought by spreading the bag
When Dimple was asked how she asked for votes, she said- ‘I did not make any promises to the people. I begged them. Sometimes I asked for votes by spreading my dupatta and sometimes by extending my hand. I was asking for votes like begging and people gave me votes.’ Let us tell you that Rajesh Khanna contested the Lok Sabha election from Delhi in 1991.
