Expansion

The political situation of Bihar has now changed. Congress, which was part of the grand alliance government of Bihar till a few days ago, has now become the opposition. Senior Congress leaders held a meeting to discuss the political developments in Bihar. The meeting was held at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday, which was attended by Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Bihar Congress in-charge Mohan Prakash, Bihar PCC chief Akhilesh Prasad Singh and other senior leaders including MLAs.

If party sources are to be believed, it was discussed what will be the position of Congress in future after Nitish Kumar joins NDA. The strength of the Congress organization in Bihar was discussed. Besides, the situation of Congress in Bihar in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections was also discussed in detail.

Cabinet expansion of the new government

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has recently separated from the ongoing alliance with Congress and Lalu Prasad Yadav. Kumar has now joined BJP. Recently, he took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar on behalf of NDA. During this, two BJP leaders also took oath as Deputy CM. After the formation of the new government, CM Nitish Kumar kept the most talked about Home Department with himself this time too. It is being said that BJP wanted the Home Department in its account. Here, Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary has been given 9 departments including finance and health. Whereas the second Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha has been given 9 departments including Agriculture, Roads, Revenue and Land Reforms.

Understand the current mathematics of Bihar Assembly

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party RJD has the maximum number of 79 MLAs in Bihar Assembly. When Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s sentiment towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi after giving Bharat Ratna to public leader Karpoori Thakur played ‘fruitful’ in Bihar on January 28, RJD went straight from power to opposition. Now he has 19 MLAs from Congress and 16 from Left parties in the opposition. There are a total of 114 MLAs.

On the other hand, in the 243-member Bihar Legislative Assembly, there are 78 MLAs from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, 45 from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United, and four from former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party Hindustani Awam Morcha-Secular. Apart from these, an independent MLA was also in the previous grand alliance government with Nitish Kumar and is still there. In this way, the ruling party’s strength is becoming 128. Currently, the opposition has 114 MLAs as against 128 from the ruling parties. Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM has one MLA, who is not on any side. Now see that the magic number is 122. Meaning, the government has six more MLAs and the opposition has eight less.
