Diwali 2024 deepawali laxmi puja shubh muhurat October 31 or November 1 know Date time here

Diwali 2024 Date: Diwali or Deepawali is considered a very sacred festival related to Lord Ram in Sanatan culture, which has a tradition of celebrating on the day of Kartik Amavasya as per the calendar.

In the year 2024, Amavasya date is falling on 31st October and 1st November due to which there is a dilemma regarding the worship of Diwali. For this, let us solve this dilemma through astrology and know which will be the auspicious time for the worship of Goddess Lakshmi.

Which Muhurat is auspicious for Lakshmi Puja (Mahalaxmi Puja Shubh Muhurat)

The most auspicious time for worshiping Lakshmi in Diwali is Pradoshvyapini i.e. in Trimuhurta after sunset, Mahalakshmi worship is done on Kartik Amavasya. Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi Tithi of Kartik month is on 31st October 2024 till 03:53 PM and at this time Amavasya Tithi will start which will last till 06:17 PM on 1st November.

In such a situation, very little time is left for Mahalaxmi Puja on 1 November 2024 because Amavasya Tithi will end soon in the evening. But despite the date of Amavasya on 31st October 2024, Lakshmi Puja will not be performed. For this, some evidence has been given in the scriptures which are as follows-

Athashvinamavasyayan Pratarbhyangah Pradoshe Deepdanalakshmi-Parjanadi Vihitam. Tatra suryodayam vyapati-astottaram ghatikadhikaratrivyapini darshe sati na shabhakah. (Dharamsindhu)

Meaning- Kartik Amavasya has been asked to worship Lakshmi at the time of Pradosh. If there is Amavasya from sunrise to sunset for more than 1 hour i.e. more than 24 minutes of night (Pradoshkaal), then there is no doubt.

Pardine eva dindwayepi va pradoshvyaptau para. Purvatraiva Pradoshvyaptau Lakshipujanadau Purvaam (Dharmasindhu)

Meaning- If there is Pradoshvyapini i.e. Amavasya on the next day itself or on both the days then the next Amavasya will have to be taken.

Iyan Pradoshvyapini Grahya. Dinaddhaye sattvasattve para. (date decided)

It is written in Tithi Nirnaya (Bhattojidikshitkrit) Purushartha Chintamani that if Amavasya does not touch Pradosh on both the days then Lakshmi Puja should be performed on the second day only.

Atmante Ubhayatra Pradoshavyapti-Kshepi Patra ,दर्शस्य सार्ध्यामत्र्याधिक-व्यप्ति-त्वत्पारेव युक्तति भाती.
,effort-concern)

Meaning- If Amavasya is prevalent only on the first day and if on the next day Amavasya is prevalent for more than three prahars and on the second day also Pratipada is becoming Vriddhagamini and ending after three prahars, then worship Lakshmi on the next day only.

Similarly, if Amavasya Pradosh prevails on both the days then it would be appropriate to worship Lakshmi on the next day itself.

Therefore, Mahalakshmi Puja can be performed on Friday, November 1, 2024, half an hour before sunset and 2 hours 24 minutes after sunset, i.e. between 05:03 pm and 7:57 pm. If exact time is to be taken then between 5:33 pm to 6:17 pm would be appropriate.
