What is the meaning of gaslighting?
This word had come into existence 80 years ago i.e. in 1938 through gas light. The Gas Light is a play by Patrick Hamilton which was adapted into two films in the 1940s. Gaslighting means playing with someone psychologically for a long time. He has to be confused in such a way that he starts doubting his thoughts and himself. There should be such a decrease in his confidence and self-esteem that he becomes dependent on the person playing. It can also be political and business level trickery.
