Doctors have started an indefinite strike in protest against the murder of a doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. On Monday, resident doctors did not provide services anywhere except emergency services. In such a situation, patients had to wander around even after getting prescriptions. However, seeing the problems of the patients, the senior faculty took charge. But due to their low number, patients had to wait for hours for their turn.
Doctors say that on the first day of the strike, 30 to 50 percent of OPD was affected in AIIMS, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Safdarjung, Lady Harding, GTB, Loknayak, DDU and other hospitals. In these hospitals, many previously proposed surgeries had to be postponed, while no date was given for new surgeries.
