Subsidy on Dragon Fruit Farming: Dragon fruit is a very popular fruit, the demand for which is increasing rapidly in the market. It is very beneficial for health and the farmers who cultivate it also benefit. Bihar government is even giving subsidy to the farmers cultivating this fruit.

Actually, Bihar government is emphasizing on the cultivation of dragon fruit in the state. Therefore, subsidy is also being given to the farmers by the government. According to the Horticulture Directorate, Agriculture Department, Government of Bihar, 40 percent subsidy is being given to the farmers for cultivating dragon fruit under the National Horticulture Mission. According to this, a farmer will get 40 percent of the per unit cost of Rs 1.25 lakh i.e. Rs 50,000 for dragon fruit cultivation. This amount will be sent directly to the bank account of the beneficiary farmer through DBT.

Promotion of dragon fruit cultivation

Under this scheme, farmers are given subsidy for dragon fruit planting, field preparation, irrigation, weed control, pesticide control, harvesting and other expenses. The objective of this scheme is to increase the income of farmers and promote dragon fruit cultivation in the state. Dragon fruit plants start bearing fruits about 18 months after planting. The fruits turn red or pink when ripe. The fruit can be cut and eaten fresh.
